Abstract:

This paper presents a newly developed -48-V DC power supply system with large capacity fuses and power distribution frames (PDF) for supplying high currents to high power information and communication technology (ICT) equipment. The maximum feeding current is 140 A, and power can be supplied to ICT equipment until about 7 kW per power line. Moreover, a power supply conditions for preventing accidents in these -48-V DC power supply systems is discussed. We specify that the input capacitor in a DC-DC converter used in ICT equipment should have a value of at least 1.5 muF/W, and a maximum diameter of the cable among PDF and ICT equipment should be less than 100 mm2. If power supply systems for high power ICT equipment follow these power supply conditions, there will be fewer serious accidents.
