Abstract:

The progressive use of RFID technology in more and more fields of consumer packaged goods adds new challenges for data protection. Most RFID tags contain no sophisticated data protection mechanisms, because they are primarily designed to be cheap while carrying a very limited set of data. This lack of data protection allows various attack scenarios. Based on the analysis of existing attacks in communication networks issues for RFID-aided supply chains are derived. Critical data incidents and data manipulation issues are analyzed and ways to improve data protection are drawn.
