Abstract:

This paper shows that WDM-PONs are suitable to deliver dedicated (unicast) symmetrical ultra-broadband residential access and at the same time can broadcast services similar to power splitter-based PONs. This is achieved by utilizing the cyclic property of the AWG filters. In addition to these services, monitoring functions can be implemented in an ad-ditional band.
