Abstract:
An increased number of services need bandwidths for their expected qualities, resulting in a continuing growth of capacity in the optical transport networks. The expected tens or hundreds of TBit/s or even PBit/s for the exponential growing capacities requires a rethinking of the network architectures with respect to scalability and cost efficiency. In this paper a highly scalable optical transport network architecture is discussed offering cost effective capital (CAPEX) and operational (OPEX) expenditures.
