Abstract:
Bidirectional transmission using wavelength channels full duplex offers considerable potential for simple low-cost yet high-performance passive optical FTTx systems. Our investigations show, that this transmission technology enables single-fibre star topologies as well as chains and rings of optical add-drop multiplexers (OADM). In addition, we present concepts of a uniform optical network unit (ONU) to be used in such passive optical WDM access networks (WDM-PONs).
