Abstract:
In this paper the characteristics of different small planar omni-directional type antennas are studied in order to determine their suitability for ultra-wideband operation. The antennas are characterized in terms of their transfer properties in both the time and frequency domain. The antenna characteristics in the principal radiation planes are visually presented as colour scaled plots versus time or frequency – making it easy to make comparisons between different antenna types.
