Abstract:
RFID transponders are currently being introduced in many application domains. Actual HF and UHF transponders are generally designed in compliance with existing ISO/IEC standards. Besides the design of RFID transponder chips, packages and appropriate reader front-ends, the wireless transmission link and communication interferences have a strong impact on the overall system reliability. In order to allow directed improvement of RFID systems, integrated models of the electronic parts, the RF front-ends and the wireless communication links are required. In this contribution we present integrated approaches for modelling HF and UHF transponders on different levels of granularity. Based on the complete model of an UHF transponder/interrogator system we will show some simulation results with respect to the overall communication reliability of an RFID system.
