Abstract:
Applications based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tagging at item level experience a growing diffusion in industrial and retail processes, whereby data security gains on impact. In this context, FIR accomplished a study about “Data Security at Item-Tagging in Apparel Retail” and developed a package of measures. The research work concerning this matter is based on a hybrid approach, whereby the theoretical risk potential in RFID on item level and the necessity of data security was analyzed “top-down” first. On this basis, an empirical study in the apparel retail was accomplished “bottom-up” afterwards, to elicit the key challenges of data security. The cognitions won in this way outline the basis for the development of a package of measures, which eliminates the worked out key challenges of data security in RFID-Item-Tagging.
