Abstract:
In contrast to former investigations, this paper deals with belief propagation (BP) instead of survey propagation (SP) for binary quantization based on low-density generator matrix (LDGM) codes. We present necessary modifications of BP for binary quantization. Generally, our goal was a reduced complexity at constant rate-distortion performance. Therefore, additional approximations are considered. Our simulations demonstrate the possibility to dramatically reduce the computational effort without performance loss.
