Abstract:
The SAR simulation program “PIRDIS”, which is an acronym for Platform-Independent Range/Doppler Image Simulation, is based on validated models for all relevant system parts, such as sensor modules, SAR processing, landscape, man-made objects and atmosphere. Using the multi-channel feature of PIRDIS, input data for Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI) system simulations can be generated. These data may be used for development, optimization and validation of GMTI algorithms. In this paper, the concept of the GMTI simulation using PIRDIS will be discussed: therewith, the assessment of planned GMTI systems can be done time and cost efficiently.
