Abstract:
Estimation of the lateral length of an extended moving line target by airborne radar is discussed. We consider here ground targets observed by airborne radar. The crucial aspect of this problem is the clutter level which can be high compared with the target signal level. Therefore, GMTI techniques have to be applied for clutier rejection. As the radar moves during operation space-time processmg techniques have to be applied. It is shown that the two-dimensional ML and JvIV estimators are capable of measuring the apparent target length in presence of a strong clutter background.
