Abstract:
Opportunistic transmitters are increasingly being studied for detection purposes. However, the bandwidth offered by these transmitters is still not sufficient for meaningful imaging. In this paper, we consider the use of angular diversity arising from a moving receiver to improve resolutions for bistatic imaging using such transmitters. The equations for imaging in the case of a bistatic airborne radar are first derived based on existing monostatic indoor imaging techniques. Approximated expressions for the resolutions are then derived and their configurationdependence is investigated. Some simulation results using a bistatic electromagnetic tool which models the fields scattered by forested areas are then presented.
