Abstract:
When a target vibrates, periodic ‘ghosts’ or ‘paired echoes’ are generated in a SAR image together with the image of the static target. A specific example of a vibrating electric site generator is analysed in this paper and it is shown that for small vibration amplitude the vibration spectrum can in principle be measured if the ghost to clutter ratio is good enough. Some large amplitude vibration effects are also discussed and it is shown that the target can disappear under some circumstances. Simulations are presented.
