Abstract:
The Chilean electricity industry model is based on a competitive market for power generation, deregulation for large consumers and regulated prices for small consumers. After a short introduction of the Chilean power systems, the principles of marginal costs and nodal pricing, as applied by the Chilean electricity industry model, are described in more detail, followed by a brief overview of relevant operational aspects.
