Abstract:
Metallic and hole type photonic crystals are used to couple light from an input waveguide to an output waveguide by means of their focusing properties at certain frequencies. The common material system for realizing photonic integrated circuits Si-SiO2 at the telecommunication wavelength of 1.55 µm is modeled in the microwave region around 20 GHz with the Rogers TMM10 - Teflon material system.
