Abstract:
Due to the quick development of microprocessors, Voltage Regulators face serious challenges when it comes to accomplish voltage and current requirements of new microprocessors. Two-Stage Voltage Regulators for powering laptop and desktop microprocessors have proved that can be useful when dealing with improvements in efficiency. In this paper, a topology suitable to be used in a two-stage power architecture is proposed. Due to its high efficiency and fast dynamic response in open loop operation it could be used as a pre-regulator to step down the bus voltage. This topology could also be used as a post-regulator in applications that could take advantage of its low output capacitance.
