Abstract:
This paper presents a new concept to extend Resource & Admission Control Subsystem (RACS) specified in ETSI TISPAN NGN standardisation. New RACS elements developed in the ScaleNet project enable adaptation of QoS related parameters for multimedia applications to the dynamically changing network resources of subscribers’ transport links with the help of the IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) control plane. The new elements also enable the intelligent interface selection for mobile nodes with multiple network interfaces. The implementation of the extended RACS in the testbed as well as the initial performance evaluations of the extended RACS are also presented in this paper.
