Abstract:
This paper in intended to give an overview about hearing aids and the related hearing problems as introductory paper of the ”Binaurale Signalverarbeitung für digitale Hörhilfen” (Binaural Signal Processing for digital hearing aids) session. In this paper, first physiological reasons for hearing problems are described and the challenges for hearing aids are explained. Then, with the focus on signal processing, current technologies and future trends in hearing aids are explained.
