Abstract:
A method is presented which allows a wire curl antenna designed to be accurately scaled within the 1-20 GHz frequency range. The method is implemented such that for winding angles in the range 0.18-0.26 mm/rad geometrical dimensions that yield axial ratio <1 dB can be found within a restricted single parameter search space by varying the length of a 1.16 λ curl by only ± 0.044 λ. For validation, experimental comparison is made between two antennas, one at 2.4 GHz and the other at 11.85 GHz, scaled according to the method proposed.
