Abstract:
In the present paper we discuss the effect of magneto-dielectric laminated thin films on the characteristics of a patch antenna. The results found in the literature for antenna using bulk magneto-dielectric substrates are revised and discussion is addressed to the practical case of μ and ε larger than unity. We present an original solution based on a high permeability thin film suitable for microwave regime. It consists in using a combination of ultrahigh magnetization and ultrahigh exchange-biased FeCo multilayers with dielectrics. Measurements are presented using the microwave composite as a prospective patch antenna substrate.
