Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to extend spectrum analyzers to Radio Frequency (RF) radiation dosimeters. Three different existing measuring systems are examined. Portable spectrum analyzers are chosen as a starting point. Multiple extensions are proposed, but only the software extension called the Dosimeter software is implemented. The Dosimeter software extends spectrum analyzers to calculate the total power density and the electric and magnetic field strength, over an adjustable frequency band. Depending on the logged data, the power density or field strength can be showed as a function of time in different kinds of graphs. Common broadband measurements as well as some application measurements, like GSM and WiFi, are performed with the proposed solution.
