Abstract:
This paper analysis results of measurements of fade durations due to rainfall in terrestrial line-of-sight links. The database available corresponds to 27 site-years of rainfall attenuation data measured in Brazil, Japan and Europe. Analysis of the results indicate that number of fades exceeding a given attenuation threshold follows a first order decaying exponential model. An empirical method was obtained to predict the outage intensity, associated with the number of fades with durations longer than 10 second.
