Abstract:
Planar antennas composed of finite periodically structured surfaces have been studied. Two differently sized periodic structures were measured and compared in terms of their radiation characteristics and the frequency dependent direction of the main beams. Dipole antennas placed close to the surface were used for excitation. The implications of truncating the periodic structure are discussed in detail.
