              Abstract:
A compact Dielectric Resonator Antenna for the future WLAN (5.2/5.8 GHz) is presented in this paper. The DRA geometry is a half elliptical cylinder with a high major to minor radius ratio. The antenna is fed by an aperture coupling slot. A U-shaped slot is also part of the feed network for more coupling and bandwidth enhancement. Although the size of the antenna is small, the antenna has good radiation characteristics and operates over a wide band of frequencies. An antenna impedance bandwidth of 39% is achieved.
