Abstract:
In this paper, a cavity-backed bow-tie antenna for ground-penetrating radar is presented. Dielectric embedding and resistive loading of the radiating structure are employed to achieve a 10:1 relative bandwidth (from 100 MHz to 1GHz ), with a maximum antenna size of 52 cm , and stable performance over different types of the ground. The full-wave analysis of the developed antenna is performed by means of a dedicated locally conformal finite-difference time-domain procedure.
