Abstract:
Trust is a key factor for successful IT Systems in general. We therefore show how design aspects for context aware systems can be derived. We use an example of a context aware application, identify user’s uncertainties and follow Muir’s logic of a trust network to show relevant trust relations in and around the application. Based on these results we provide recommendations for how these relations can be supported leading to higher trust in the whole application and thus to a higher acceptance of the application. Our exemplary approach shall show developers and designers how important trust relations can be identified and what design choices can address these relations to enhance the chance of success of context aware systems.
