Abstract:
Coverage and mobility support are two main aspects of future broadband deployment. Cellular wireless networks based on 3GPP-LTE enable for the first time low delay and high data rate requirements. LTE plays therefore an important role for deployment of mobile broadband internet. Especially during initial deployment phase of the new access technology, coverage holes will occur and one of the biggest challenges for network planning is to deliver high capacity also to these spots. First measurement results with a LTE-Advanced relaying prototype highlight challenges for network planning of future LTE access networks.
