This paper investigates the design and optimization of non-uniform linear array for subsurface imaging. The impact of the electromagnetic wave refraction on the air-ground interface is taken into consideration in order to compensate the refraction effects and improve imaging quality. Both synthetic and applied electromagnetic simulations have verified the improvements of the proposed new array in terms of sidelobe level and sidelobe size comparing with the uniform linear array with same number of array elements. Measurement results will be included in the final paper.
