Abstract:
A next generation SAR/MTI radar sensor has been developed at EADS called SmartRadar (Scalable modular aerospace radar technology). It features a modular and flexible design to cope with the challenging requirements of modern air- and spaceborne radar, and which makes it easily adaptive to various performance requirements, environmental conditions, operating frequency bands, selectable bandwidths and number of receive channels as well as multiple operating modes. The new system was flown in a demonstration flight campaign in summer 2009. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image results are of very good quality and very high performance.
