Abstract:
This paper presents performance requirements for the correction of ionospheric effects in L-band SAR data. The proposed requirements describe the correction quality that is required for L-band SAR data to meet the calibration specifications and maintain full performance during all ionospheric conditions. The proposed requirements can serve as a benchmark for a performance assessment of ionospheric correction methods and will help defining their suitability for operational implementation. Requirements are determined for SAR polarimetry, SAR imaging, SAR interferometry, and ionospheric research.
