NASA’s Digital Beamforming Synthetic Aperture Radar (DBSAR) is a reconfigurable L-Band radar that employs a phased array architecture and a state-of-the-art data acquisition and real-time processor in order to enable multi-mode measurement techniques in a single radar platform. DBSAR collected multimode data aboard the NASA P3 aircraft during its first field campaign over the Delmarva Peninsula in 2008. The campaign was conducted to test the system’s operational modes over several targets of interest that included forest, ocean, agricultural land, coastal marshes, and the Chesapeake Bay. Results from the campaign indicated successful performance of the radar system.
