Abstract:
The following paper describes a fully automatic programming system for industrial robots which is used for profile cutting in the shipbuilding industry. The programming is done in a multistep process. Design features are used to model and simulate the fabrication process. The analysis of the process model and the simulation results are part of the automatic programming. Modelling the fabrication process is done by a system which combines parametric models with incoming design data and fabrication data. A special editor enables the end user to extend the system with new parametric models by himself.
