Abstract:
The coverage and throughput is of vital importance for the application of a ubiquitous sensor network (USN). The lowrate (LR) UWB is a promising technology for the USN due to its extremely low power consumption and simple implementation. However the short communication range is a bottleneck for widespread use. This paper deals with a new frame structure based on active RFID relay system integrating with IEEE 802.15.4a PHY layer specification, which sets up a connection with the USN. Also, we analyze the performance of the proposed system, and our simulation results show that both coverage and throughput are remarkably enhanced.
