Abstract:
This paper presents core node architecture for a network concept that we refer to as optical burst switching with channel bonding (OBS-CB), in which multiple wavelength channels are used to transmit a single optical burst in a parallel manner. Further, it presents a structure of edge node transceivers and two methods for burst assembly and transmission that are suitable for using in OBS-CB networks. Results concerning cascadability and efficiency of OBS-CB core nodes are shown and discussed.
