Abstract:
For successful and sustainable integration of electric vehicles in energy management processes, negotiation of charge related information between electric vehicles and the grid are inevitable. Therefore the ISO/IEC Joint Working Group 15118 is working on the Vehicle to Grid Communication Interface which is supposed to enable autonomous information exchange between electric vehicles and charge spots. Adoption of this interface allows for sustainable grid negotiation in terms of balancing power and also for comfortable user interaction (e.g. Plug & Charge). This work describes the current state of the communication protocol and focuses on the message exchange patterns at the application layer. Detailed investigations on physical and data link layers are not part of this work. Following these considerations a Mobile PKI based authentication method is presented. It constitutes an alternative to available Smart Card approaches and allows for easing the integration process in existing infrastructures.
