Abstract:
The current car (vehicle) position (CCP) is needed in almost all C2X applications, sometimes with high demand on precision which cannot be met by a GPS positioning system equipped in today’s passenger cars and trucks. This paper proposes a low (no) cost method for CCP calibration in local area which is particularly suitable for C2I-based cooperative applications, e.g. intersection assistance. The solution is developed in context of a functioning C2I-communication in a certain area, i.e. usually a couple of hundreds meter around a road side unit, and is extremely simple with respect to software realization and hardware deployment. The system time and resource consumption is almost negligible. With these characteristics, the solution is applicable for all vehicles equipped with C2I functions, especially for affordable cars.
