Abstract:
3G HSPA and HSPA+ have paved the way into the mobile broadband world. At the point of launching the first commercial 4G LTE systems in Europe we already find a rich variety of 3G smartphones penetrating the mobile markets creating an ever increasing demand for data speeds and system capacities. In this paper we review the current status of 3G HSPA+ and 4G LTE in trial and commercial networks and address some practical key performance figures. We also present the next evolution steps of these technologies opening an exciting outlook into the future to come.
