Abstract:
In this paper the impact of flexible RLC PDU size (i.e. enhanced layer 2) on the performance of High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) is investigated. Performance results for packet data services as well as for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) are provided that have been obtained using a dynamic network simulation tool. We will show that due to the reduced RLC overhead the user throughput can be increased. Moreover, the peak throughput can be increased and a low throughput in power limited situation can be maintained simultaneously.
