Abstract:
Changing market circumstances and increasing competition force enterprises to become more efficient and dynamic. This especially holds for small and medium enterprises, as they often distinguish themselves from competitors through customized services and superior quality. Therefore they are in need for adaptable and tailored solutions to increase the efficiency of their operations and the interoperability with their partners in the supply chain. Auto-ID technologies such as RFID enable such enterprises to tap the potential of their processes, but on the other hand require huge investments. In order to facilitate the uptake of such technologies, a light-weight and low-maintenance approach for integration needs to be established. This paper describes a case study for such an approach.
