Abstract:
This paper presents an overview of the LightSquared history and developments, as well as technical highlights and main parameters required to understand the impact on the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) sensors. The introductory part is followed by a presentation of RF (Radio Frequency) architecture, which can be used for implementation of RF front-end GNSS receivers. The section concentrates on the challenges in the analog design that need to be taken into consideration in the case of a strong interferer, like LightSquared signal, is presented at the GNSS antenna. Main impact of the LightSquared deployment on the analog blocks of GNSS receivers is presented with a short discussion of possible mitigation methods and guidance for development of new GNSS analog/RF receiver stages.
