Abstract:
This paper introduces and analysis the innovative concept of hybrid waveforms and its system design encoding for air/space borne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). Merging Stepped Frequency waveform (SFW) and Linear Frequency Modulation (LFM) into a single system must be attractive in a system point of view. This paper describes the requirements and provides system improvements in parallel. Simulation results are presented which demonstrates image quality metrics (resolution), ambiguity function, accuracy and sensitivity. The system improvement scheme is validated both in theory and/or computer simulations.
