Abstract:
The PAMIR system has been upgraded to be able to transmit and receive a large instantaneous bandwidth within each pulse. The coherent combination of several subsequent echoes (i.e. use of synthetic bandwidth) is no longer necessary. Accoding to this hardware upgrade, the ISAR processing for ground moving vehicles was adapted. To avoid the problem of a Doppler smearing in the range-Doppler segments which build the basis for the motion estimation of a vehicle, range velocity segments are evaluated instead. Two different options to evaluate range-velocity segments are proposed and discussed in this paper. The range-velocity sequence enables to estimate the vehicle motion and thus to evaluate an ISAR image.
