Abstract:
Multidimensional SAR imaging techniques offer better detection and estimation performances with respect to classical interferometric approaches; being based on a tomographic processing scheme, they also allow resolving the layover problem over vertical structures. High resolution data of the new X-Band sensors have shown on one side the substantial increase in the monitored scatterers density in urban areas and on the other side the higher influence of layover. With respect to C-Band, X-Band data are also more sensitive to thermal dilation. In this work we discuss the extension of the 4D technique to fortify the multidimensional SAR imaging approach with respect to thermal dilations. We also consider the application of the multidimensional SAR processing to data acquired both by TerraSAR-X and by the Cosmo-Skymed constellation.
