Abstract:
In classical single-channel SAR, simultaneous minimization of range and azimuth ambiguities limits the maximum swath. The High Resolution Wide Swath (HRWS) technique proposes a multi-channel system to overcome this limitation. This paper uses data from the Canadian satellite, RADARSAT-2, to demonstrate the HRWS approach; further, it demonstrates the capability to G:0.-'ITI process the same data to detect moving targets. A modification to the clt4ssical HRWS processing IS proposed, as well as a new, different type of HRWS processing. Finally, it illustrates the improvements in littoral-zone ship detection offered by the HRWS scheme.
