Abstract:
The trial results on passive SAR measurement using the Envisat-1 satellite as an illuminator of opportunity are presented in the paper. The measurement campaign was carried out by the Warsaw University of Technology in July 2011. The main goal of the trials was to verify the feasibility of exploitation of a passive SAR sensor for ground-based Earth imaging. Besides the real passive SAR results, the bistatic geometry for a ground-based passive SAR system is discussed in the paper presented. The paper also describes the algorithm dedicated to passive imaging, developed by the authors.
