Fully polarimetric SAR data can provide detailed information on scattering mechanisms that could enable the target or the structure to be identified. In this paper, we propose a new method for the target information extraction of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (polSAR) with the combination of Shannon entropy and polarimetric decompositions. We present the principles and procedures of infonnation extraction based on the characteristics of its scattering mechanism. The perfonnance of this method is evaluated based on Quadpolarization RADARSAT-2 data in Hebei province.
