Abstract:
The readout circuity for semiconductor detectors is a critical component to improve medical imaging. A direct analog to digital conversion strategy for the readout of radiation detector arrays is proposed in this paper. This strategy allows to participate from the on-going shrinking of digital circuity in terms of area and power consumption. Additionally, a differential charge sensitive amplifier for the readout of two detector elements using only one analog channel is presented. The amplifier is the most important building block for the overall channel performance. The differential structure offers improved power supply and noise coupling suppression while keeping a comparable input referred noise performance.
