Abstract:
Rectifiers for telecom applications need to produce a - 48 Vdc output from an AC source. Such rectifiers are typically implemented with two-stage converters that consist of a three-phase, six-switch AC-DC front-end converter and a fourswitch DC-DC converter. Researchers have tried to reduce the cost and complexity of standard two-stage converters by using various approaches. In this paper, several of these approaches are reviewed and a new three-phase AC-DC frontend converter is proposed. Experimental results that confirmed the feasibility of this converter are presented in the paper.
