Abstract:
Composite Coding Schemes for OTDR SNR enhancement have been proposed in theory and have not been evaluated yet by experiments to the best of our knowledge. A Composite Coding Scheme was implemented to an OTDR measurement set-up to enhance the SNR of measurements and enable supervision of PONs with higher splitting factors and reach. The Composite Coding Scheme OTDR is combined with a novel monitoring concept for passive optical networks (PON) which is based on unique combinations of concatenated wavelength selective mirrors. A subscriber identification was enabled after 33.5 dB one-way attenuation.
