Abstract:
Decision support on mobile devices is a frequent demand in daily life scenarios. Applications can be found in private as well as in business contexts. The level of sophistication of the support depends on two factors: the type and size of the knowledge representation and the knowledge processing. In our approach we try to give as much as possible autonomy of to the mobile user. Hence, we represent knowledge explicitly by means of rules instead of employing large data corpuses which are difficult to handle on mobile devices. Knowledge processing is done by a rule engine which for the sake of a prototype system is adapted to the Android operating system. Experiments show that according applications perform well on mobile platforms when compared to stationary ones.
